Magic: The Gathering @ OmniSource

Magic: The Gathering is a collectible card game first published by Wizards of the Coast in 1993.

The game is played with a deck of cards that players customize. A typical game can be played between two or more players, with each player starting with a set number of life points. The objective is to reduce your opponent’s life total to zero or achieve other specific victory conditions outlined by certain card effects.

The blend of strategy, resource management, and chance, has contributed to its enduring popularity and status as a cornerstone of modern gaming culture.

Commander League Rankings

League Rules

League Overview

This Commander League will run for 12 weeks with each month featuring a raffle. Players accumulate points and raffle positions based upon participation and performance (If a player wins a grand prize in a raffle they are removed from the subsequent draws). The league is made up of 11 weeks of competitive play followed by a final week of raffles and championship rounds. Players will be divided into Bracket 3 (Green Paper - Upgraded) and Bracket 4 (Red Paper - Optimized) based on deck composition and power level. Championship rounds are limited to Bracket 3 or less.

Prior to any game exceeding a Bracket 3 level all players must agree. If one player at the table disagrees the game cannot proceed.

The final four players will go head to head against each other in three rounds. Once the league proceeds to the finals, accumulated points are reset.

*Players must buy into the league before participation on any given day for games to be count*

Doubling Down

Doubling down is when a player has the option to buy in twice in one week to make up for a missed week. When buying into the double down the player only receives 1 participation point. We went this route because the upside of winning 3 times during your double down week is substantial.

League Entry

  • League Games: Players must buy into the League to start recording league games.

  • Number of Games: Each player is limited to 3 games a week to accumulate their league points.

  • Match Slips: Players will receive the match slips upon entry. Players will fill out the slip to help track their league points. Each player will have another player from their match to initial the slip to confirm each game's results.

  • Flexibility: If a player does not finish all 3 games in one day. That player can come back to play another game(s) to complete their weekly games.

Final Week: Championships & Raffles

  • Top Players: The top 4 players will face off in a final championship match.

  • Top 4 Pod: Will play 3 games to determine the final Top 4 placement as a typical top 4 tournament style runs.

  • First Player: The player with the most points at the end of the league, plays first in the Top 4 pod.

  • Top 4 Games 2 & 3: The results of Top 4 game one will determine seating for game 2 and top 4 game 2 results will determine seating for game 3.

  • Raffles: Points earned throughout the season will be converted into raffle tickets for various prizes.

  • Casual Pods: Players not in the championship match can participate in fun, casual games with unique rule modifications.

Additional Guidelines

  • Sportsmanship: Respect all players. Toxic behavior will result in penalties.

  • Deck Submissions: Players must submit their deck lists before Week 1.

  • Deck Adjustments: Players may make adjustments but must play in their bracket level.

  • Judge Rulings: Disputes will be resolved by a designated judge.

  • Pods: Players must have turn 0 discussions about what bracket of deck each player is using and it is not limited to all brackets, player choice takes preference.

  • Creativity: Players can be creative with their decks.

  • Combos: Two card infinite combos are not allowed in Brackets 3 or lower.

  • Suggestion Board - All players are free to write down new ideas on the white board to gain points in the league. We’ll build a list and vote on what ideas might be a fun way to gain extra points throughout the league.
